SAFE AMERICA NAMES MARIA CEBALLOS-WALLIS ITS RELIEF COMMITTEE CHAIR

Atlanta-GA: Maria Ceballos-Wallis was named as Chair of the WorldSafe Relief Committee, helping expand direct relief supplies in nations (or states) impacted by major disasters.

One ongoing example is Puerto Rico, which has been the focus of WorldSafe post-Hurricane Maria. Safe America is looking to expand its initiative to include more ‘Safe America Cooking Cans,’ innovative and inexpensive devices that were distributed pre-Christmas to over 1,000 families. The devices, manufactured for Safe America by Glatt Stove, use carbon-free alcohol as the fuel to cook meals for less than 50 cents.

Safe America is looking to expand its ‘WorldSafe’ relief effort in the summer with for-profit partners along with its WorldSafe Alliance partners. Those include:

– UPS Foundation, a key partner of Safe America and funder of its “BE SAFE AMERICA” preparedness program

– MAP International, a provider of pharmaceutical and medical relief products

– HOI – which has provided direct support for homeowners (who need restoration of their roofs, etc.)

“We’re proud of the work Maria has already done – and look forward to helping thousands more,” said Safe America CEO Len Pagano. “With disasters expected each year, our goal is to assemble a growing team – of on-site support as well as distribution partners – to make recovery quicker and save lives
